For National Engineers Day I want to pay tribute to our engineers in Teesside who’re training the next generation.
Many of you will know my background in Engineering, having studied at both TTE in South Bank and Redcar & Cleveland College before working on Wilton in the Chemical Industry.
Supporting our training providers is so important to me.
That’s why I was proud to work with Redcar & Cleveland College to support their new Clean Energy Hub - a £3.2 Million investment in the next generation of engineers.
And it’s why I’m proud to support the expansion of TTE Technical at Middlesbrough College, where they’ve created whole new workshops and facilities for the students there.
And last week I visited Learning Curve Group in South Bank, to see their multidiscipline academy focusing on construction skills.
We are creating thousands of new engineering jobs through our Freeport and the investments in new green energy, both onshore and offshore.
I’m proud of the brilliant training providers in our area which are making those jobs accessible to local people.
