This morning I laid flowers in the Garden of Remembrance as part of our efforts to commemorate the Holocaust in Redcar & Cleveland.
We remember the six million ordinary Jewish people who died at the hands of Nazi persecution, and we also remember those killed in the genocides which followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Darfur.
It is important that we listen to the brave testimonies of survivors, so that we learn the lessons of the past.
