I have joined with Conservative colleagues from across Redcar and Cleveland to ask the Council to reconsider their plans to introduce new parking charges across our borough.
Under the plans, new charges would be introduced in Marske, Normanby, Eston Square and Redcar along the Coast Road - all of which are currently free.
If the plans are approved, it would cost you 50p for to park for just 20mins at Windy Hill in Marske, and charges would be introduced at Kirkleatham Museum at £1.20 for the first hour rising to £4.50 all day.
Other parking zones will face increased charges too, and you can read the full list here: http://www.redcar-cleveland.gov.uk/.../Appendix%201...

Consultation closes 17th January 2023
It’s our view that these plans represent a significant concern for small businesses, like those at Normanby Top and on Skelton High Street where parking is currently free, who would now face even more headwinds at a time when we should be supporting them.
It can’t be right to penalise shoppers, visitors, and local businesses in this way, just as many are getting back on their feet following the disruption of the Covid pandemic and the ongoing challenges relating to energy costs.
