Great to go down to Yearby Airstrip today and chat to the folks that run it.
This fantastic community airstrip has welcomed some big names to Teesside and is ran by a handful of people who want to keep this historic airstrip going.
The strip is advertised nationally as a farm strip and commercial users are charged a small landing fee. Private individuals visiting relatives are not charged, which is fab.
The airstrip has had planning permission since the 1970s and provides good access for contractors wanting to visit Wilton or Teesworks and trainers and racegoers for the racecourse.
I always wanted to be a pilot but I can’t because I’m colour blind - however I think it’s great to have this fab community asset on our doorstep!
