A real honour this week to stand with Theresa Cave as she brought the Knife Angel to Redcar & Cleveland, with the support of Graham Construction.
Theresa’s tireless work with The Chris Cave Foundation has saved hundreds of lives in Teesside and across the Country through the Point7 program and the stories they’re able to share as an organisation.
I paid tribute to her in the House of Commons last year, and I do so again today.
The Knife Angel is a statue as magnificent as it is harrowing. Each of the 100,000 knives that form Angel’s body, is a knife that was on the street. Many had been used in an attack.
The fact we have this here, the national monument against violence and aggression, is a stark reminder of what knife crime can do to families.
Theresa gave out awards to those who support the work of the CCF, and I was really touched to receive one.
Thank you to all those involved in bringing it here, including the Council, and those who fund the work of the Chris Cave Foundation like Steve Turner, our Police & Crime Commissioner. We would be a poorer area without you.
The Knife Angel is based outside Kirkleatham Museum, and will be there all through August. It is free to visit and pay your respects. Please think about bringing your children along, and educating them on the dangers of carrying knives.
