Today, Jacob Young MP attended the opening of the Garden of Remembrance on Coatham Road.
This was an opportunity to pay our respects to those who died on the site 80 years almost to this day, when the Zetland Club in Redcar was bombed on 21st October 1941, killing 15 people.
This garden of remembrance has since been created with a lot of hard work from the Redcar Branch; Royal British Legion and the Redcar & Cleveland Mayor’s office and some great local businesses.
At the service, the ‘Local Vocals’ choir sung a rendition of Fields of Gold. Which was Incredibly moving.
Jacob said "It was fantastic to be there at the official reopening and great to see so many people turn out to join in the service - alongside the Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire who represents the Queen in our area."
