This morning it was confirmed that the Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough would become a mass vaccination site - due to open Mid-March.
In parliament, Jacob Young has been calling for a local mass vaccine centre for weeks, after hearing constituents' concerns that their closest hub was in Durham.
So far, more than 40,000 people in Redcar and Cleveland have been vaccinated - a number which will only increase with the announcement of the new site.
Jacob stated: "This is fantastic news [...] As we move down the ages of those eligible and start to approach the time when we must start to roll out the second dose of the vaccine, this will mean people won't have to travel as far and can be vaccinated locally."
