Today, Jacob Young provided locals with an update on the status of the currently closed Eston Baths, following a visit to the premises.
The local MP stated that he felt it was necessary to be 'open and honest' with people about the state of the site and the likelihood of it re-opening in the near future. Posting an explanatory video on his social media, Jacob says it is unlikely the baths will re-open within the next 12 months as it will need major re-investment.
His video included some images of the state of the pool itself and the building's plant room, showing leaks and damage to equipment, that have come as a result of numerous flooding.
Jacob maintains that he is, "committed to ensuring we have a swimming pool in TS6 for the people of TS6." However, he now thinks it may be time for a new pool altogether.
On his Facebook page, Jacob has also paid thanks to Councillors Sandra Smith, Chris Gallacher, Rob Clark, Vince Smith and Adam Brook for their work surrounding the Baths.
