The Redcar and Cleveland MP today stood in the House of Commons to lobby Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, for a freeport in Teeside.
Feeling that Teesside is ideally placed to receive the first post-Brexit freeport, Jacob Young argued: "In Teesside, we have the largest brownfield development site in Europe, the deepest port on the East Coast, a fantastic Tees Valley Mayor in Ben Houchen and a plan to create 15,000 jobs over the next 20 years."
Mr. Young feels that this makes the Tees Valley an ideal candidate for one of 10 new freeports, following the UK's exit from the European Union (EU).
The MP has promised that he will 'keep banging the drum' to try and get one of these ports to his local area.
