Today, Redcar and Cleveland MP Jacob Young paid a visit to the TS6 Vaccination Centre, based at Normanby Medical Practice. He met with GP's Dr. Lone and Dr. Ahmed, to find out how the vaccine rollout was going in the area. Jacob was ecstatic to see the efficient procedures running at the practice, enabling their first cohort of elderly patients (those over 80) to receive their first Covid-19 vaccine dose. They hope to have vaccinated all those in this highest risk category by the end of the day.
Jacob also witnessed local lady Mabel, aged 83, receive her vaccine.
The TS6 area is conducting it's vaccine rollout at a faster rate than other local centres, and Jacob commended this amazing achievement, stating: "These people are trained in treating patients, not mass vaccine planning, and they have done an amazing job in what they've achieved so far."
At this point in the race against Covid-19, the UK has vaccinated more people than the whole of the EU combined.
