The Boundary Commission has published revised proposals for Redcar & Cleveland and have listened to the concerns many put forward.
The commissioners have accepted my proposal in full, and as a result, our constituency remains the same with the addition of Saltburn town.
I’m really pleased with this outcome and would like to thank all those who wrote in to support my counter proposal.
The boundary commission highlighted the majority of the responses came from the Marske & New Marske area, and that their initial proposals would break local ties.
Their revised proposals brings together the parish of Saltburn, Marske & New Marske - and avoids crossing council boundaries into Middlesbrough.
The name of the constituency is still an issue in my view. Although the constituency is called Redcar, the majority of my constituents do not live in Redcar.
In this final round of consultation, I will be arguing for a change to the name and I hope you can support me again.
