Today, Jacob Young and Tees Valley Mayor, Ben Houchen, introduced the CEO of BP to Teesside, to showcase the opportunities available at the areas' Teesworks site.
BP are looking to invest into a world-first, industrial scale Carbon Capture and Storage plant here in Teesside. Whilst also looking to build the UK's biggest blue Hydrogen production facility alongside it.
This is otherwise referred to as 'Net Zero Teesside' and will be a power plant, providing homes with zero carbon power, safely decarbonising the industry.
Jacob posted about the visit on social media, writing: "This investment means jobs for Teessiders and opportunities for our young people."
"We led the world in the Industrial Revolution; now we will lead the world in the Green Industrial Revolution, helping us all become cleaner, safer and healthier."
