Towards the end of last year, I worked with Councillor Malcolm Head to bring a bus service back to the Castle Road loop on the Ings Farm Estate.
Working together to fix the problem, we went to Arriva to demonstrate the route’s necessity and viability, connecting the residents here with the rest of the area. Because of our efforts, the bus service was reintroduced in November.
I’m still trying to do the same in Lazenby, where for a number of years now I have been going back and forth with Arriva to try and get a service introduced there - working together with the new local councillors, David Taylor and Stephen Martin - Eston Ward Councillors, we are seeing what can be done.
We are making some progress but there isn’t an easy solution because of other problems on the 63’s route - including that mad decision to put a cycle path down Linthorpe Road, that the Labour Council refuse to reverse.
Across Redcar & Cleveland, we’ve helped to make buses more accessible by capping bus fares at £2 - making it cheaper and easier for people to get around.
Our plan is working in Redcar & Cleveland - we are levelling up and transforming Teesside.
