This week is National Apprenticeship Week.
A week to encourage both employers and students to consider taking up an apprenticeship.
Apprenticeships are a great way to earn while you learn, and to gain skills alongside experienced teachers.
I’m very proud of my background as an apprentice in Teesside’s Chemical Industry, learning at both TTE and Redcar & Cleveland College, before going into the world of work.
I started on site at the chemicals site near the Boro ground, where I got to grips with how different processes worked. That gave me a good grounding to then go on to work on Wilton, where I worked until I was elected.
You can do an apprenticeship in most jobs now - find out more about them here: www.apprenticeships.gov.uk
