SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES (Part 2)
I was out on Redcar High Street yesterday and took some time to chat with a few of the local business owners about Coronavirus and how they’re coping with reopening.
Debbie is the owner of Miss lilys (Hair, Beauty & Gifts) and she opened her shop back up on Monday and is starting to see customers coming back in.
The team at Miss Lily’s have put up new plastic screens at the counter, made masks available for staff and hand gel for customers, as well as new distancing guidance in store.
Miss Lily’s was one of the shops that had to close during the lockdown, but Debbie has kept her business alive with the Government’s help:
Small Business Grant, to help with ongoing fixed costs.
Job Retention Scheme, to furlough her staff and keep their jobs going.
Our High Streets are dependent on people like Debbie, and the spirit of local businesses. As we emerge from Coronavirus, please use our local businesses and say thanks for the work they do.
