Jacob Young has been elected as the first ever Conservative MP for Redcar, returned with a majority of more than 3,500.
Jacob says, "Still digesting all this but so happy! I am doing my best to respond to everyone's messages but I've got a busy few days ahead, so sorry if it takes me a while. I'm looking forward to the train to London on Monday to go to Parliament and be your voice.
As I said in my speech last night: "People here voted to leave the EU, and that wish MUST be respected. But the call on all of us here tonight is to LISTEN. To hear what the people of Redcar and Cleveland are saying and to act accordingly.
"That is what I intend to do as your FIRST (ever) Conservative MP.
"Thank you!"
