JACOB CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO INVEST IN HYDROGEN
One of my roles in Parliament is chairing the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Hydrogen. This is a group of MPs from all different parties who all share an interest in Hydrogen.
I took this role as Teesside currently produces more than 50% of the UKs Hydrogen and it’s a real growth industry for us. I see Hydrogen as one of the things that will help us decarbonise heating, industry and transport and today we, as an APPG, launched our report into what the Government need to do.
This could be revolutionary for us here in Redcar & Cleveland and Northern Gas Networks are already going to be trialing 100% Hydrogen in a redundant gas pipes in South Bank - a world first.
As I say in the foreword to the report, other nations are rapidly investing in this sector and we need the Government to act fast or we risk falling behind.
