Today Jacob was on the front page of the Northern Echo, alongside other Tees MPs calling for compensation from the BBC after the Bilsdale mast fire.
Jacob Commented about the article on his social media:
"The fire wasn’t the BBC’s fault, but it also wasn’t the fault of the thousands of people who went without TV or Radio since the fire on the 10th August."
"The BBC have offered to pay compensation to people who’re without service for 1 month (10th September)… but if you’ve been without service for even 29 days, you get nothing…"
"No one would expect the same from their mobile provider - or even satellite tv like sky or virgin."
"Instead people are forced to pay - through the license fee - for a service that they can’t use."
"It’s time for the BBC to do the right thing, and refund all people who’re affected for the length of time they were affected."
"People already know my views on the license fee, but this isn’t about that - it’s about fairness."
