BREAKING NEWS: Eston & TS6 to get additional £20 Million.
Today the Prime Minister has announced the new ‘Long Term Plan for Towns’, which is being backed by £1 Billion investment in key levelling up areas.
As many of you will know, I have worked hard to put Eston, Normanby, Grangetown and South Bank on the map - after they were ignored by some of our previous MPs.
Well I’m absolutely buzzing that Greater Eston has been picked as one of the ‘towns’ included in this announcement, meaning we will get an additional £20 Million over the next 10 years to spend on the town’s priorities.
This builds on top of the £20 Million I was able to secure for us in the budget earlier this year - so in total a direct cash injection of at least £40 Million, from the Government into the TS6 area, over the course of the next 10 years.
The additional funding comes with the requirement to set up a “Town Board”, which is what we’ve got in Redcar at the moment, and ensures that as well as the Council - local business leaders, residents and me as the MP get to sit on the board and help to make the decisions for the future of our area.
Time and time again, people have told me in TS6 that Redcar gets all the funding and they get left behind. Well thanks to our hard work, we won’t be able to say that anymore.
The Conservatives are ensuring we invest right across our borough - in Redcar yes, but in TS6 too - and our more rural communities like Marske, Nunthorpe and Saltburn. We’re levelling up and transforming Teesside for the better.
