REBUILDING ESTON BATHS
Went down to Eston Leisure Centre to see the progress on Eston Baths.
When the baths first closed at the time of the pandemic, I made a promise to the people of Eston I would work night and day to get a new baths on the same site.
Lots of people told me it wouldn’t happen and that TS6 get left behind all the time - and I was told by others from out of area that Eston wasn’t used very often, and the Redcar & Cleveland already had enough swimming provision.
I refused to give in, and explained how important having a baths on their doorstep was for the kids in our communities. And I told the council I would help get them the funds they needed to rebuild it.
Thanks in part to the £20 Million levelling up investment for TS6 I secured from the Government, the rebuild is now well on its way. I’m so chuffed at the progress.
And the council has just approved the plans for a learner pool, which is something the public overwhelmingly asked for in the consultation - I am saying to the council however, that it should be a SPLASH pool, like at Redcar rather than a simple box pool.
