Great to visit Azotic Technologies which is based at CPI within the Wilton Centre. They are an exciting and ever-growing business which produces nitrogen fertilisers known as “Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus” (Gd).
Azotic was originally formed out of a University of Nottingham, UK project in 2012. Since then, Azotic have been working to develop the Gd bacteria into formulated products and prove it out across the globe in field efficacy trials.
The products are manufactured and developed in the UK, with a production plant here on Wilton. In 2023 they launched commercially in the UK with the aim of bringing systemic biological nitrogen fixation to the UK market.
The business has also started taking on more Local apprentices to work in the manufacturing process and it was great to hear how this has been really successful at Azotic and they are looking at taking on more young people in the future.
I want businesses like this to be able stay local and secure more jobs and more investment here in Teesside. Currently working to see how they can expand and increase their production of this sustainable product.
